Helpful information
01
Choose a resource that matches your situation
For a stiff key or a lock that will not turn, start with the key-turning guide and the Security Blueprint. For a change of occupants or missing keys, read the moving-in guide. If you are comparing hardware, the front-door guide explains the fit and operation questions to raise before choosing a product.
These resources explain common concepts rather than diagnosing your door remotely. You do not need to identify the exact fault before contacting the business. Describe your observations and ask about the appropriate next step.
02
Use the advice safely
Do not attempt to defeat a lock, remove hardware from a property you cannot authorise work on or force a stuck key. Checking how an already-open door closes is different from trying to gain access. If a lock or frame has visible damage, describe it directly rather than assuming a cleaning product will resolve it.
For rentals and managed premises, confirm permissions before arranging a change. Advice about lock types is not a guarantee that a particular product fits your door or meets every requirement at your property.
